Dr Pawar is preparing for the climb from the Giripremi Adventure Foundation, with guidance from senior mountaineer and mentor Umesh Zirpe, the recipient of the Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Award.

At the Giripremi Adventure Foundation’s IMF Film Festival in Pune, attended by over 350 adventure enthusiasts, Dr Pawar was presented with the Indian national flag.

The event was graced by Giripremi’s Founder-Chairperson, Usha Prabha Page, Everest summiteers Krishna Dhokle, Bhushan Harshe, Ashish Mane, and Jitendra Gaware, among others.

At the age of 62, Dr Pawar began focusing on his physical fitness. During this period, he also started running as part of his training. Dr Pawar has participated in several marathons and has successfully completed two Ironman competitions and one Ultraman event, both of which are prestigious global challenges.

Even at his age, he continues to maintain excellent fitness and is undergoing mountaineering training. Through Giripremi Adventure Foundation, Dr Pawar has successfully summited Mount Mera (21,247 feet), completed the Annapurna Circuit Trek, the Everest Base Camp Trek, and summited Mount Kilimanjaro (19,341 feet), the highest peak in Africa.

"After the age of sixty, most senior citizens begin to complain of various physical ailments. However, Dr Pawar has defied this notion by focusing on his fitness so diligently that, even in his seventies, he is now preparing to climb the highest peak in the world. His dedication and fitness are not just inspiring for senior citizens but for everyone," said Umesh Zhirpe, Giripremi's Eight-Thousanders Expedition Leader.
