According to the complaint received at the WhatsApp number of Mumbai Traffic Police, the miscreants wanted to enter Khan's Bandra residence and blow up his car with a bomb.

The Worli police station has registered an FIR against unidentified person/s under sections 351(2) and 351(3) (criminal intimidation) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

“We have registered a case and investigations are in progress,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Datta Kamble told reporters.

In the Whatsapp message, reports said that the person/s threatened Salman Khan by claiming to "barge into his house" and "blow up his car with a bomb”.

In the past, because of repeated threats, Salman Khan has been provided security by the Protection Branch of Mumbai Police. Besides, he has also upgraded his private security and now travels in a bullet proof car.

Ever since the 1998 blackbuck shooting case, Salman Khan has been on the radar of Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

On the intervening night of 1-2 October 1998, Salman Khan was accused of shooting two blackbucks near the Kankani village in the outskirts of Jodhpur.

The incident happened when the Bollywood film Hum Saath Saath Hain was being shot.

Others who accompanied Salman Khan were Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam. In April 2018, a Jodhpur court sentenced Salman Khan to five years in jail and a fine of Rs 10,000 for killing two blackbucks, however, the actor has challenged his conviction in Rajasthan High Court.

However, Lawrence Bishnoi has issued constant threats to Salman Khan, asked his men to conduct reconnaissance of his Bandra house and so on - and this has managed to keep the gangster in limelight.

Lawrence Bishnoi's name has cropped up after the sensational killing of former Maharashtra minister and NCP leader Baba Siddique.

As of now, Lawrence Bishnoi is in the Sabarmati jail in Gujarat in a drugs case.
