Actor Ajaz Khan, who was arrested in Mumbai in 2018 and spent 26 months in the Arthur Road Jail and was later granted bail by the Supreme Court, has revealed that he helped Shah Rukh Khan's son Aryan Khan and protected him too.
According to media reports that quoted the actor's interview with 'Hindi Rush', Ajaz said that actress Shilpa Shetty's husband Raj Kundra and Aryan were in the same jail as him and he helped them both.
Ajaz said that he protected the star kid from dangerous people in the prison as there were about 3,500 criminals in the jail at that time making it an unsafe place for Aryan.
The actor in the interview said, "Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, was also in jail at that time. I helped him as well and sent him water and cigarettes. This is all you can do for someone in jail. And yes, I also saved him from gundas and the mafia. He was in danger - he was placed in a common barrack."
Aryan’s arrest by Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in October 2021 after a raid on a cruise ship, was one of the country’s biggest news as he was charged under laws "related to possession, consumption and sale of illegal substances".
Aryan, Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son who spent close to a month behind bars, got a clean chit in 2022.
The NCB had filed its chargesheet in the case before a special court set up under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985, in Mumbai.
Due to lack of sufficient evidence, Aryan and five others of the total 20 accused in the case could not be prosecuted by the central drug-enforcement agency.
According to media reports, actor Ajaz also said that he had helped Kundra during his time in the jail and saved them from 'gundas'.
Ajaz in his interview said, "Raj Kundra used to send me messages every day. He was under a strict surveillance. I had been in jail for seven months when Raj Kundra came. He didn’t help me, but I helped him a lot. Be it a biscuit, a Bisleri bottle or a cigarette, it's a big deal to provide these things in a jail. He would ask me for water, bread, and biscuit. Normal water was allowed, not Bisleri, but he wouldn’t drink it as he would fall sick."
