Jalna: A 19-year-old beggar has been arrested for allegedly murdering a man who tried to sexually assault him, a Jalna police official said on Friday.
Ankush Bhosale, a resident of Duelgaon Raja in Buldhana district, was arrested on Thursday, the official added.
"The body of an unidentified man was found near a public toilet in Mastagad on Thursday. Based on CCTV footage from the area, we questioned Bhosale. He confessed to hitting the man with a brick and then strangling him for allegedly trying to have unnatural sex after the two had drinks together," Crime Branch inspector Pankaj Jadhav said.
While Bhosale has told police the victim was 40 years old and was a beggar like him, the name and other details of the latter are yet to be ascertained, the official added.
Efforts are on to identify the victim with the help of a cross tattoo on his hand, the official said.
A case of murder and other offences has been registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against Bhosale, he said.
