Mumbai: Three persons were injured after A fire broke out from a gas pipeline that leaked during unauthorised digging in the Marol area of Mumbai on Sunday.
Some vehicles were also damaged in the incident.
The gas pipeline belong to the Mahanagar Gas Ltd (MGL)
The incident took place after midnight in the Sher-e-Punjab Society at Takshila near Gurudwara in Andheri East, according to the Brihan Mumbai Municipal Corporation and Mumbai Police.
The incident took place around 12:30 am and the fire was extinguished an hour later.
A two-wheeler rider, Arvindkumar Kaithal (21), suffered 30 to 40 per cent burns while another biker, Aman Harishankar Saroj (22) also sustained 40 to 50 per cent burn injuries, and an auto-rickshaw driver Suresh Kailas Gupta (52) suffered 20 per cent burns.
The three persons were admitted to the Balasaheb Thackeray Trauma Care Centre in Jogeshwari for treatment.
The incident took place when some work was underway.
Meanwhile, the MGL said the gas pipeline was damaged due to JCB impact during unauthorised uncontrolled digging.
“The fire was extinguished by the Mumbai Fire Brigade and MGL emergency team. The gas supply was stopped for pipeline repair work. Unfortunately, three persons were injured in the incident and were rushed to the hospital,” the MGL said.
