Mumbai: As Thackeray cousins - Uddhav and Raj - dropped hints of coming together, their maternal uncle Chandrakant Vaidya expressed happiness over the development saying that it has been the wish of people of Maharashtra and Marathi manoos.
Vaidya, fondly known as Chandumama, said Balasaheb Thackeray would have been happy. “Saheb would have been very happy on hearing this,” he said.
“I am very happy and satisfied,” said Vaidya, known fondly as Chandumama.
“I would not be able to comment on the political issues, but as a mama of both of them, I am happy,” he said.
“I am sure…there would be good things…my blessings are with them (Uddhav and Raj)…Saheb’s blessings are with them…the blessings of God are with them and more importantly, the blessings of the Marathi manoos,” he said.
In fact, over the past several years, Chandumama had made several attempts to ensure a rapprochement among the two cousins, however, so far, it has not materialised but Saturday's development has given hopes.
Chandumama is the brother of Uddhav's mother Meenatai (and brother-in-law of Balasaheb Thackeray) as well as Raj's mother Kundatai (and brother-in-law Shrikant Thackeray).
