During the heated argument between the two, the man kept on insisting her to speak in Marathi. The man can also be heard making statements like 'where is she from', and 'how is she living in Maharashtra if she is not able to speak the local language'.

However, she kept her ground throughout, as seen in the video, and did not get intimidated by the man. She stated that she has the right to speak in the language of her preference irrespective of where she lived.

The video has gathered several views on social media, with many users sharing their views on this issue.

Some users praised the girl for showing courage, while some others felt that there was no harm in learning the local language.

However, another user said that language is important but no one should be harassed like this.

Earlier, in a similar incident that happened in Bengaluru between a man and an autorickshaw driver, a non-Kannadiga man was seen threatening the auto driver and telling him to speak in Hindi.

In the video, the man was seen telling the auto driver, “Noida mein raho ya Bangalore mein raho, tum bhi Hindi mein baat karo (Doesn’t matter if you are in Noida or Bengaluru, speak in Hindi).” To this the auto driver said, “You have come to Bengaluru, you speak in Kannada. I won’t speak in Hindi.”

However, the man later posted an apology in Kannada stating that he did not intend to offend anyone and claimed he speaks Kannada, having lived in Bengaluru for nearly nine years.

He added that he went to the nearest police station to apologise for his behaviour, admitting he regretted losing his temper during the heated exchange.
