Many of them are suffering temporary hearing impairment, too.
Witnessing the continuous flow of those critically injured, the government has instructed all hospitals in the city not to refuse admission and treatment to anyone wounded in the blast.
“Most of the patients who were trapped in the blast had injuries on the lower limbs, pelvis and the abdomen. We have asked the hospitals and doctors to attend to every injured,” said Sudip Bandopadhayay, Minister of State for Health after he visited the injured and took stock of the situation at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital, where most of those injured in blast were rushed for treatment.
Bandopadhayay further informed that nine persons were brought dead and two died during treatment.
The minister added that two more were in a “very critical” condition. He also spoke to some of the injured and asked the doctors and staff at the hospital to go all out in helping the injured.
Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, who returned from a two-day trip to Dhaka on Wednesday evening, also visited victims of the Delhi High Court blast at the Ram Manohar Lohia hospital.
