In a gruesome incident, a woman and her two children were stoned to death by her husband after a family feud at their residence in Sangria police station area of Hanumangarh district in Rajasthan.

The children, Manisha (14) and Raman (11), died on the spot, while the wife, Sarla (37), breathed her last in the hospital.  The husband, Dwarka Prasad (41), has been arrested.

“We have arrested one Dwarka Prasad for allegedly killing his wife and two kids. The three were brutally attacked by bricks. After the postmortem, the bodies have been handed over to their relatives,” said a senior police officer.

We have registered a case against Prasad under section 302 for murder and section 34 for joint attempts of attack against the two children, he added. Police said the incident took place late on Tuesday night when Prasad, a potter, entered into a feud with Sarla.

An enraged Prasad smashed his wife with bricks. The children tried to rescue their mother but Prasad attacked them too. On hearing the commotion, neighbours gate crashed into Prasad’s residence and brought him under control.

“Family members were rushed to hospital by the neighbours. The children died on the spot while the mother was referred to district hospital in Hanumangarh where she breathed her last,” the officer added. Prasad and Sarla were married for 18 years.

Officials informed that Prasad is yet to reveal the reason behind the act, but according to neighbours he is mentally challenged.
