Makum Motor petrol pumps manager Mahendra Jain was coming by train from Jorhat to Tinsukia by train when he was abducted from Tinsukia railway station, the sources said.
Jain sent a message from his mobile phone to an employee of the petrol pump that he had been abducted by two persons and was taken away in a vehicle to an unknown destination, the sources said.
The phone was later found to be switched off.
The proprietor of the petrol pumps has filed an FIR with the police that Jain has been abducted.
Police investigations are on and a search operation launched to track him out.
