Mercury continues to soar in Delhi

The met department has forecast no respite for the next few days.

"The minimum temperature recorded this morning was 5 degrees above average, at 20.7 degrees Celsius. The maximum is expected to hover around 39 degrees Celsius," an India Meteorological Department (IMD) official said.

"The day will clear and the temperatures will remain more or less the same over the next few days," he added.

Delhi Sunday recorded the hottest day of March in the past six years as the maximum temperature settled around 39.2 degrees Celsius, seven notches above average.  
On Monday too, the maximum temperature stood at a scorching 39 degrees, while the minimum settled at 22 degrees Celsius - 6 degrees above average.
