Minor girl ends life in police station

A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide in the premises of Vijay Vihar Police Station in west Delhi on Saturday.

According to police, the girl was brought to the police station after being traced over a missing complaint. “She was missing from her house in south Delhi’s Vasant Kunj since Friday,” a police officer said.

Her family members had reported the matter to Vasant Kunj North Police Station. On Saturday morning, she was spotted near Rithala metro station, from where she was taken to the nearby Vijay Vihar Police Station.

Police immediately informed Vasant Kunj North Police Station and a local women’s NGO as well.

When police were noting down details of the case, the girl went to the women’s changing room, where she hanged herself around 5 pm. “A magisterial inquiry has been initiated in the case and the body sent for post-mortem at Baba Saheb Ambedkar Hospital,” the officer added.
