The three were arrested on Wednesday for lynching Johny F Lalhmangaih Zuala (20) after he scored a goal against them during a intra-varsity football match on Tuesday at Chaheru village in the outskirts of the city.

All of them were students of Lovely Professional University.

The trio, identified as Hashim Idrish, Ahmed Althani -- both belonging to the Republic of Sudan, and Syed Faizal -- a national of the United Republic of Tanzania, were produced before judicial magistrate A K Aggarwal who sent them to one-day police custody, officials said.

Nine other African team members, arrested for breach of peace, were today produced before SDM Amarjit Paul who remanded them to 14-day judicial custody.

Meanwhile, the body of Johny reached Mizoram today after being air-lifted from Delhi, the officials said.
