If there is one thing Donald Trump seems to have mastered in his second stint as the United States President, it is how to stick to his claims of being the harbinger of peace amid 'warring' nations. And Trump did exactly that, hours after holding a phone call with Narendra Modi.

A conversation where Modi briefed the US President on Operation Sindoor, launched by India against terror sites in Pakistan, and made it clear that it has never accepted any third-party mediation and will never accept it in the future.

Hours after that, Trump repeated his claim that he stopped a war between India and Pakistan.

In comments to reporters, Trump described Modi as "a fantastic man" and asserted that the two countries will have a trade deal.

"Well, I stopped the war…. I love Pakistan. I think Modi is a fantastic man. I spoke to him last night. We're going to make a trade deal with Modi of India. But I stopped the war between Pakistan and India,” Trump said Wednesday.

This comes hours before Trump is set to host Pakistan Army chief Asim Munir for lunch at the White House on Wednesday.

The Congress as usual was quick to pick up on Trump's claims yet again and lashed out at the government.

"Why is a foreign leader the first to announce a crucial national security move? Even more strange — Why did India’s Foreign Secretary issue a statement only in Hindi, on a matter of global diplomacy?," Congress leader Manickam Tagore said.

Elaborating further, Trump said, "Modi, from the India side, and others. They were going at it, and they're both nuclear countries. I got it stopped. I don't think I had one story. Did I have one story written… I stopped the war between two major nations, major nuclear nations. I don't think I had a story written about it,” he said.
