At the meeting, convened to discuss the party’s strategy towards the 2G spectrum scam, state BJP parliamentarians D B Chandre Gowda and Suresh Angadi made an attempt to raise the issue of land scams in Karnataka. However, L K Advani and Venkaiah Nadu turned down their request, telling them to meet the senior leaders separately for a discussion.

Later, when Chandre Gowda, Angadi and Sadananda Gowda met Advani, he categorically told them that as the BJP was fighting against corruption at the national level, it would be  better for Yeddyurappa to resign gracefully. Fourteen Lok Sabha and four Rajya BJP MPs from the State held a meeting and lobbied for Yeddyurappa.

Except four Lok Sabha members–Anant Kumar, J Shanta, Fakirappa and Ramesh Jigajinagi–-the rest were identified with the Yeddyurappa camp and pleaded hard for his continuance.
