Mumbai on LeT radar

The Intelligence Bureau (IB) issued a terror attack warning to the Maharashtra government and its various security arms on July 8, confirmed Minister of State for Home Naseem Khan on Wednesday.

The LeT, which thrives on the Indo-Pak hostility, is known to become active whenever the two neighbours start moving close to each other. A repeat of the November 26 Mumbai attacks is sure to cause further tensions between the two.

The targets of the possible terror attacks indicated by the IB are the crowded railways stations on central, western as well as on the harbour lines and a few banks.

Khan said such warnings and inputs were received from the IB on a regular basis and the security is strengthened accordingly. It is said that the IB has indicated four dates for the possible terror attack.

After 26/11, the security agencies had established bunkers at important stations such as the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Churchgate, with armed policemen and jawans watching for any terror activity.
