The Maoists had given a 72-hour bundh call for five States, including Bihar, Jharkhand, Chattisgarh, West Bengal and Orissa, to protest against the Union government’s “Operation Green Hunt.”
Train movement on the Howrah-Patna route was disrupted for several hours when nearly five feet of railway track was found to have been blown away by the Naxalites. Around 20 trains were stopped en route, while the routes of some other important trains were diverted through Gaya.
Situation was reported to be limping back to normal in the evening hours after East Central Railway officials began restoring train traffic.
The Maoists set dumpers, tractors and other machines of a road construction company near Dulhin Bazaar on fire, after the company failed to give them “levy”. The marauders not only assaulted the company employees but threatened to eliminate them if they refused to give “levy” to Naxal outfits.
