Mumbai: Taking serious note of the crass language used by YouTuber and podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia in stand-up comedian Samay Raina’s reality show India’s Got Latent, the National Commission for Women has summoned them and five others.
Besides Allahbadia, known as Beer Biceps and Raina, others summoned are Apoorva Makhija, Jaspreet Singh, Ashish Chanchlani, Tushar Poojari and Saurabh Bothra.
They have been asked to appear on February 17 before the NCW office in New Delhi.
The NCW took serious note of the derogatory and racist remarks made on the show and Chairperson Dr Vijaya Rahatkar has summoned them.
"These comments, which have sparked widespread public outrage, violate the dignity and respect owed to every individual, particularly in a society that upholds equality and mutual respect. In light of this concern, under the instructions of NCW Chairperson Vijaya Rahatkar, a hearing has been scheduled to address the controversial remark made by the content creators on India's Got Latent," the NCW said in its notice.
In a related development, the Maharashtra Cyber Cell filed a case under sections of the Information Technology Act against YouTube show India’s Got Latent after controversial remarks were made in an episode.
