Ezhikkode Sasi Namboodiri was selected by drawing lots from a list of 11 candidates, prepared on the basis of an interview conducted earlier by the Travancore Devaswom Board, managing the shrine.
Dhananjyan Namboodiri was selected as the chief priest for the Malikappuram Devi temple also situated in the hill shrine complex.
The priests of two temples would assume duties from mid-November when the "mandala pooja' pilgrimage season will commence.Over three crore devotees from different parts of the country and abroad visit the hill temple every year during the pilgrimage season.
