The incident took place in the slum cluster located behind Ankur apartment in Patparganj at around 2:50 am, a senior fire brigade official said.

Seven fire tenders were rushed to the spot which doused the blaze within an hour. One person died while another was seriously injured in the incident.

"The blaze broke out after an electric wire caught fire and fell on it," the official said.
Earlier on April 8, around 600 hutments were gutted when a major power transmission line fell down on a slum in Ghazipur.

Meanwhile, another major fire broke out at Shahipur village in B-C block of Shalimar Bagh in Northwest Delhi.

The blaze was reported at 4 am and 20-25 fire tenders have been rushed to douse the flame, a fire brigade official said.
The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, the official said.
