However, his dream was cut short when he was killed in the Pahalgam meadows tourists massacre.
Desale (64) and his wife Usha (60) were part of a group of tourists who had booked through Nisarga Paryatan Tours.
“It is reprehensible that terrorists have targeted tourists now”, said Navi Mumbai-based social activist B N Kumar.
'We Navi Mumbaikars are feeling very sad," he said and urged the government to take all steps to prevent recurrence of such attacks. Kumar, who was born in Udhampur in Jammu, said J&K should regain its glory as Paradise on Earth.
The Desale couple’s son and daughter, who stay in Pune had rushed to the New Panvel located oft the satellite township of Navi Mumbai.
Relatives from his hometown village in Malegaon in Nashik too have rushed to New Panvel.
“The tragic and horrific attack in Jammu and Kashmir should be strongly condemned... Dilip Desale, a resident of New Panvel, has died in the firing,” said Prashant Thakur, BJP MLA from Panvel.
The Desale couple started their tour on Monday.
