Other Congress leaders too were seen with 'Bangladesh' bags in the Parliament complex. The Congress has demanded that the Indian govt should urge Bangladesh government to ensure safety of minorities there.
Priyanka Gandhi on Monday was seen carrying a handbag emblazoned with the word "Palestine" and Palestinian emblems, including a watermelon -- seen as a symbol of Palestinian solidarity.
The Congress General Secretary has been raising her voice against Israel's actions in Gaza and expressing solidarity with Palestinians.
"It is the moral responsibility of every right-thinking individual, including all those Israeli citizens who do not believe in hatred and violence, and every government in the world to condemn the Israeli government's genocidal actions and force them to stop," she had said in a post on X.
Recently, hundreds of people in India had taken to the streets to protest the attacks on minorities in Bangladesh and the continued incarceration of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das in Bangladesh.
They demanded that the interim government in Bangladesh ensure that minorities can live in an atmosphere of peace and harmony.
Earlier, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said India has consistently and strongly raised with the Bangladeshi government the threats and "targeted attacks" on Hindus and other minorities.
Hindus constitute about 8 per cent of Bangladesh's 170 million population.
