The inquiry is ostensibly  aimed at probing the role of Opposition leader and UDF’s chief ministerial probable Oommen Chandy who was finance minister in 1992 when the deal was signed.

“The LDF will have to tell the people why two of its past governments did not find it significant to probe my role but only now when its government has hardly two months left,” Chandy said.

He indicated that the LDF government had no other intention but to tarnish the image of UDF leaders. Chandy said he had told his party high command what he intended to do if he was made an accused in the case. “Those who do things right should also ensure that others are convinced of it,” Chandy said.
