On Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar's resignation, Rajya Sabha LoP and Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge said, "Only he knows the reason. We have nothing to say on this. Either the government knows or he knows. It is up to the government to accept his resignation or not." (ANI)
BJP MP Jagdambika Pal said, "There will be a discussion on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR). The opposition should let the house function. Today, all the questions are listed on the issues of farmers. Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi should have knowledge of the traditions of the house. As per ANI sources, it was decided in the meeting that Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi should be allowed to speak in Lok Sabha. I.N.D.I.A. alliance has decided to raise Special Intensive Revision (SIR) issue in both Houses.
Rajya Sabha proceedings were adjourned till 12 noon amid uproar by Opposition members following rejection of adjournment notices. (PTI)
The opposition raised the issue of Jagdeep Dhankhar resigning as the Vice President.
While addressing the Lok Sabha as the Chair, Jagdambika Pal urged opposition MPs including SP's Akhilesh Yadav to back to their seats and let the House function. He also asked the members to not display placards, as they continued to protest in the Well of the House.
The Lower House resumed proceedings at 2 pm amid continued uproar from opposition MPs.
The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day on Tuesday due to protests by the opposition demanding a discussion on the ongoing voter roll revision in Bihar, even as the government accused them of practising "double standards" by asking for a debate on one hand and disrupting the House on the other.
Opposition members trooped to the Well of the Lok Sabha when the House reconvened at 2 pm after two earlier adjournments on the second day of the Monsoon session of Parliament demanding a discussion and roll back of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise initiated by the Election Commission in Bihar ahead of assembly polls scheduled for later this year.
Dilip Saikia, who was on the chair, made repeated requests to opposition MPs to go back to their places and allow the House to function.
As the protests continued, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju got up and condemned the opposition behaviour.
Similarly, the Rajya Sabha was adjourned for the day without transacting any business after uproar by Opposition members over several issues including a discussion on SIR. (PTI)
