In a shocking incident, a youth was stabbed to death allegedly after an altercation over a seat in a train at Nihalgarh railway station in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district on Thursday.

According to the police sources here, the man, identified as Tauheed, who was on his way to Nihalgarh from Ambala from Begampura Express, was attacked with a knife inside a general compartment of the train following an altercation with a group of passengers.

Tauheed, who suffered serious injuries, called his brothers to inform them about the incident and asked them to reach Nihalgarh railway station.

Sources said that the accused persons also attacked Tauheed’s brothers when they entered the compartment and confronted the alleged attackers.

They also suffered injuries in the attack. While Tauheed and his two brothers were left bleeding on the platform, the attackers remained in the train when it left the station.

All three were rushed to the hospital where Tauheed was declared dead. The two others were being treated at the hospital, sources said.

Sources said that four accused persons were nabbed when the train reached Sultanpur a little later after the Nihalgarh RPF alerted their counterpart. They were identified as Deepak Kumar, Mithun, Sujeet and  Pawan. All of them were residents of Sultanpur district.

A case was registered in this regard and an investigation was on, the police said.
