Prime Minister Narendra Modi today congratulated Nitish Kumar on his becoming Bihar Chief Minister and conveyed his best wishes to him.

"Congratulations & best wishes to Shri Nitish Kumar on being sworn-in as Bihar CM," Modi tweeted.

63-year-old Kumar became the Chief Minister nine months after he stepped down owning moral responsibility for his party JD(U)'s disastrous performance in the Lok Sabha election.

Former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, Chief Ministers -- Mamata Banerjee (West Bengal), Akhilesh Yadav (Uttar Pradesh), Tarun Gogoi (Assam) and INLD leader Abhay Chautala attended his swearing-in ceremony in Patna.
