New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha and Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday said unemployment and corruption will “keep increasing” as long as elections are “stolen” but youth in the country will not tolerate “job theft” and “vote theft” anymore.
Seeking to “directly link” the “biggest problem” of unemployment to “vote theft”, he accused the BJP of staying in power by “stealing votes” and holding institutions “captive” while Prime Minister Narendra Modi is “only busy with his PR, getting celebrities to sing his praises and the profits of billionaires”.
“Breaking the hopes of the youth and making them desperate has become the hallmark of this government,” Rahul said in a post on ‘X’, as he shared a video montage of lathi-charge of protesting youth seeking jobs and Modi planting saplings, feeding peacocks and practising Yoga.
When any government comes to power by winning the trust of the people, he said its first duty is to provide employment and opportunities to the youth but the BJP “does not win elections honestly”.
“That is why unemployment has reached its highest level in 45 years. That is why jobs are declining, recruitment processes have collapsed, and the youth's future is being pushed into darkness. That is why every exam paper leak and every recruitment is tied to stories of corruption,” he said.
Emphasising that the situation is changing, he said the youth of India, who “works hard, dreams, and struggles for their future”, has realised that the “real fight is not just for jobs, but against vote theft”.
“Because as long as elections continue to be stolen, unemployment and corruption will also keep increasing. Now the youth will neither tolerate the looting of jobs nor the theft of votes. Freeing India from unemployment and vote theft is now the greatest patriotism,” he said.
