New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday received a farewell letter from United States President Joe Biden, who will exit the White House in Washington DC on January 20.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan handed over the letter to PM Modi.
“The India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership has scaled new heights, including in the areas of technology, defence, space, biotechnology and Artificial Intelligence. Look forward to building upon this momentum in ties between our two democracies for the benefit of our people and global good,” Modi posted on X after his meeting with Sullivan.
Sullivan was the last official of the Biden administration to visit New Delhi, before the transition in Washington DC.
Apart from meeting his counterpart Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Sullivan called on Modi before concluding his 24-hour visit.
Modi and Sullivan “positively assessed the significant advancement in the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership over the last four years, especially in the key areas of technology, defence, space, civil nuclear, clean energy, semiconductors, and AI,” according to a press release issued by Prime Minister’s Office (PMO).
Modi recalled his meetings with Biden, including during his visit to the US in September 2024 for the Quad Leaders’ Summit. He appreciated Biden’s contributions towards strengthening of the India-US Comprehensive global strategic partnership, which would leave an enduring legacy.
Prime Minister Modi deeply appreciated the letter from the outgoing US President and conveyed his best wishes to Biden and First Lady Dr Jill Biden.
