Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday unintentionally mentioned the name of senior Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MP Muzaffar Hussain Baig during his address, though the latter wasn’t present at the venue.

Modi, perhaps, was not aware that Baig was staying away from the rally as the latter was not invited. Mentioning Baig’s name brought grim expression on the faces of PDP ministers and other present at the stage. Baig and other PDP MP Tariq Hamid Karra had on Friday claimed that they had not been invited for the function.Beig, founding member of the PDP, had also shot a letter to Modi and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, asking the two leaders to rise to the occasion and send a message of peace and tolerance.

“I beseech you both to rise to the occasion and assure the people of the state … that communalism, intolerance and bigotry shall not be tolerated…that violators, who commit this crime against humanity, shall be forced to face the perils of law,’’ Baig wrote in his letter.
