Prime Minister Narendra Modi will use his forthcoming visit to Indonesia and Singapore to reassure the South-East Asian nations that India’s Indo-Pacific policy does not undermine the ASEAN’s centrality.

Modi will visit Indonesia and Singapore from May 29 to June 2. He will meet Indonesian President Joko Widodo and Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during his visits to the two South-East Asian nations. During his visit to Singapore, he will also deliver the keynote address at the inaugural session of the Shangri La Dialogue — an inter-governmental security forum held in the city-state every year — on June 1.

“It (the keynote address at Shangri La Dialogue) certainly provides an opportunity for our Prime Minister to articulate his thoughts about India’s policies on peace and security in Indo-Pacific region and that will be the focus of his keynote address,” Preeti Saran, Secretary (East) at the Ministry of External Affairs, said.
