New Delhi: Even as the ordeal of the deportees during the 40-hour-long flight triggered uproar in the Parliament of India, the United States defended its move to send back 104 Indian illegal migrants onboard a military aircraft.

“It is the policy of the United States to faithfully execute the immigration laws against all inadmissible and removable aliens,” a spokesperson of the American Embassy in New Delhi stated.

“I can share that enforcing our Nation’s immigration laws is critically important to the national security and public safety of the United States,” he stated on Thursday.
