Dadra and Nagar Haveli voted for the first time in 1967.

Despite being a backward area with a predominantly tribal population, people participated enthusiastically in the elections.

The turnout was an impressive 78% of 29,564 voters.

Maybe because many of them were first-time voters, the proportion of invalid votes was higher. Out of 23,144 polled votes, 1,896 (8.19%) had to be rejected
