Nearly two weeks after the devastating floods ravaged Kashmir valley, poor mobile network continues to haunt people who accused that the telcos have failed to come to their rescue.
Mobile connectivity continues to be affected and people are finding it hard to make calls on all services providers including the BSNL, Airtel, Vodafone and Reliance. The poor connectivity, as per the flood victims, has come as a blessing in disguise for the police and civil administration as this way the officials are able to be away from the people.
“It has been almost two weeks now since the floods hit the Valley. I am at loss to understand why it has taken so much time for telecos to restore their networks. In this
cyber age, at first instance mobile networks should have not been affected and if
it was affected, it shouldn’t have taken weeks to restore,” Sajjad Khan, a victim from posh Jawahar Nagar told Deccan Herald.
Seeing the snail’s pace at which mobile companies are working to restore the networks, the telecom subscribers have appealed the central government to intervene in speedy restoration of the mobile network.
Meanwhile, massive traffic jams and chaos was witnessed on Srinagar roads on Thursday as police and civil administration are nowhere in sight. The volunteers carrying relief and rescue material said traffic has come to halt on Ram Bagh, Tengpora and Hyder Pora roads, vital road links in deluged city disrupting their activities.
“Since morning we have been stranded on the Ram Bagh road and finally we had to return only to get stuck at Hyder Pora,” said a relief volunteer.
