New Delhi: The Union government on Monday announced three day state mourning throughout the country as a mark of respect on the passing away of Pope Francis.

The state mourning will be on Tuesday and Wednesday as well as on the day of Pope Francis’ funeral, the Ministry of Home Affairs said.

"During the period of the State Mourning, the National Flag will be flown at Half Mast throughout India on all buildings where the National Flag is flown regularly and there will be no official entertainment," an official statement said.
