"The presiding officer - Dhiman Sarkar of polling booth (66A) in Harirampur constituency - was removed after a Trinamool agent complained that he had used another mobile phone and talked with a CPI-M leader. After investigation, the allegation was found to be true," said South Dinajpur district election officer (district magistrate) Ashok Kumar Banerjee.

"Dhiman was replaced by Pritam Das, who was kept in reserve. So far, the poll process in that booth is going on smoothly," Banerjee told IANS over the phone.

CPI-M leader and Animal Resource Development Minister Narayan Biswas is contesting against Trinamool nominee Biplab Mitra from Harirampur constituency.

The first round of West Bengal's six-phase polls began Monday in 54 constituencies in six districts.
