An unflattering depiction of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has again led to curbs on a students union magazine in Kerala.
Fearing a backlash, a magazine published by the students union of Maharaja’s Technological Institute in Thrissur district has been withheld by proprietors of a press where it was being printed.
Students claimed that press managers were refusing to release the copies over “objectionable” remarks made in it against the prime minister.
Sections in the magazine titled “Puram Modi” – loosely translates to “superficial” in English – carries material sourced from Google that puts Modi among the world’s “top 10 criminals”.
Proprietors of Ebenezer Printers said they will not release copies because of extremely “damaging” portions against the prime minister.
“We don’t want to be associated with anything that defames the prime minister or other leaders,” T F James, managing director of the printing company, told Deccan Herald.
