A leading online classifieds of the country was in a tight spot after a controversial advertisement reportedly showing a boy for sale surfaced on its website.
Quikr.com displayed an ad with photo of the child with the caption "Rahul for sale" and mentioned the price Rs. 5, according to a complaint sent in December to the government by the National Committee for the Protection of Child Rights, reported NDTV.
The report added that Information Technology Ministry has ordered a probe into the matter based on the complaint.
Responding to the issue, Quikr.com described the incident as "unfortunate" and said it would be more careful in future.
