On the third day of Jaipur Literature Festival on Saturday, Jeffrey Archer, one of the most celebrated British authors in India, reminisced about old Indian cricket.

He congratulated the Indian cricket team for defeating Australia in the recent Test series, and praised cricket player Cheteshwar Pujara and the skipper Virat Kohli.

When asked about his favourite Indian cricketer, he replied, "My personal hero remains Rahul Dravid. I like his style and it is a privilege to watch him. After Dravid there is Sachin Tendulkar who remains my favourite."

Reminiscing his old ties with Indian cricketers, Archer said former Indian Cricket team Captain Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi was a good friend. “The love for Indian cricket has been going on for many, many years and will continue... until you are at Lords!” Archer chuckled.

Talking about the new writings and upcoming writers, Archer insisted that a writer should write what he knows and wants to. "A writer shouldn't get influenced by his readers. He should write whatever he wants to without thinking if his audience will like it or not."
