New Delhi: Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Harivansh Singh led India’s official delegation to the inauguration of Pope Leo XIV in Vatican City on Sunday.
Harivansh was accompanied by Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton.
The Indian delegation had an audience with Pope Leo XIV after the ceremony.
“Attended the inaugural mass of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV at Saint Peter’s Square in Vatican City. In my brief meeting with him, I extended my felicitations and best wishes on behalf of the people of India,” Harivansh posted on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier conveyed his felicitations to Pope Leo XIV on his election as the pontiff.
