Chhattisgarh Chief Minister on Tuesday conceded defeat and said that he takes the full responsibility of saffron party's defeat in the state Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters here, the three-time chief minister said he has sent his resignation letter to Governor Anandiben Patel.
“I thank 2.50 crore people for the love and support given to the party in the last 15 years. We have tried our best to serve the people and tried to bring a change in the lives of the common man,” Singh said.
He said the party will sit and introspect about the reason for defeat. "We will contest the Lok Sabha by analysing shortcomings,” he said.
Singh refused to blame the BJP's national leadership for the poll debacle. “There is a difference between the state and central government issues for election. The Assembly elections are fought on the local issues and policies, whereas the Lok Sabha polls are contested on the central government policies and national issues,” he pointed out.
“I will continue to serve the people and we will act as a strong Opposition, working along with people for their issues. We accept the mandate given by the people."
