New Delhi: Youtuber Ranveer Allahabadia approached the Supreme Court seeking clubbing of multiple FIRs filed against them over his controversial comments on Samay Raina's show -- India's Got Latent.
Advocate Abhinav Chandrachud, appearing for him, urged a bench of Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna to urgently take up his plea.
The court said the matter would be listed soon for consideration.
"We have a given a date, it is a fresh matter," the bench said.
The counsel said the petitioner filed a plea under Article 32 (writ jurisdiction) of the Constitution.
Multiple FIRs have been lodged by Assam and Mumbai police against Ranveer and other participants in the show after their "vulgar and obscene" comments triggered massive outrage. He sought a direction for clubbing the FIRs and grant of protection from coercive actions.
