RBI employees will take mass casual leave in demand for redressal of pending pension issues.

The operations of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) are likely to be paralysed for two days from September 4 as its staff have decided to observe a two-day-long mass leave across the country.

The employees of RBI, including the Bengaluru staff — both officers and clerical staff — will avail mass casual leave in demand for redressal of their pending pension issues.

“Demanding the updating of pension, one more option to contributory provident fund (CPF) retainers to switch over to pension and grant of CPF and additional provident fund to recruits from 2012 onwards, the collective body of Reserve Bank officers and employees has called upon the entire RBI workforce to avail two days of mass casual leave,” United Forum of Reserve Bank Officers and Employees (UFRBOE) said in a statement.

“When employees were given an option to switch over to a pension from CPF, a few employees could not opt for it. After giving four such options in quick succession up to the year 2000, the government put an embargo on any further option,” UFRBOE said.
