The controversy-ridden Nagpur-based aerospace manufacturing plant set up by Dassault Aviation and Reliance Industries has produced its first cockpit front section for Falcon 2000, which would be supplied to the global assembly line of these business jets in France.

The first Falcon 2000 cockpit that came out of the Dassault Reliance Aerospace Limited facility at Mihan in Nagpur, would be displayed on Dassault Aviation’s booth during the Aero India air show in Bangalore between February 20-24, the company said in a statement.

Production of major parts and components for Falcon business jets – also manufactured by Dassault Aviation – may be counted among Dassault's offset obligations when the first batch of Rafale aircraft in the Indian Air Force colours arrive later this year.

The joint venture company lies at the core of a raging political debate between the Congress and the BJP on the continues 36 Rafale deal with the principal opposition party accusing the BJP-led government of granting undue favours to the Anil Ambani-led company.

The company claims larger infrastructures are being developed to ramp up the DRAL capabilities so that an entire Falcon 2000 business jet can be manufactured in India. The aim at the moment is to start assembling in another three years.
