A woman police officer, who had taken on BJP leaders and booked one of them for not wearing a helmet in Uttar Pradesh’s Bulandshahar town, took to social media to vent her feelings after being shunted out of the district.
“Got transferred to Baharaich. Its near Nepal border. Don’t worry my friends, I am happy. I accept it as a reward for my good work. You all are invited to Baharaich,” Shreshtha Thakur, Circle Officer of Syana in Bulandshahar, wrote on her Facebook page.
“Kisi chirag ka apnamakannahinhota. Jahan bhijayega, roshnilutayega,” (the lamp does not have its own home. It will spread its light wherever it goes), the officer wrote.
Shreshtha was transferred to Baharaich on Saturday night.
Her post received huge support from netizens with many criticising the state government for “punishing” an honest officer.
A week ago, some BJP leaders misbehaved with Shreshtha after the police booked district panchayat member and party leader Pramod Lodhi for not having valid documents and not wearing a helmet.
The matter came to light when a video showing sharp exchanges between the officer and the saffron party leaders went viral.
