New Delhi: Top Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday described BJP candidate Ramesh Bidhuri's controversial remarks on her cheeks as "ridiculous" and said serious issues should be discussed during Delhi Assembly elections and not such "irrelevant" things.

Her comments came days after Bidhuri's remarks during a meeting in Kalkaji last Saturday, promising that he would make the roads there "like the cheeks of Priyanka Gandhi". He later withdrew his remarks and expressed regret, after a controversy erupted.

"It is a ridiculous remark. He never spoke about his cheeks. All this is irrelevant. The Delhi election is happening and we should talk about the important issues of the people of Delhi," she said.

Bidhuri had initially defended his remarks citing Lalu Prasad Yadav’s similar remarks on actor-turned-MP Hema Malini around 30 years ago and demanding an apology from the RJD chief first. Just because Priyanka belongs to a dynasty and I should apologise and not Lalu, he had said.

On Sunday, he also made controversial comments against Chief Minister Atishi, against whom he is contesting in Kalkaji.
