The Railway Ministry on Friday clarified that there is no proposal before it to discontinue paper tickets for trains including Shatabdi and Rajdhani.

Following a news item going viral on certain social media platforms that the Railways will introduce a number of changes in its system from July 1, the day GST regime starts, the ministry issued a detailed clarification to clear the doubts.

The passengers going for online booking will get an SMS on their mobile phone and it is a valid authority for travel along with proof of identity.

The ministry also said Aadhaar is not mandatory for availing train concessions and it has no plans to print tickets in regional languages.
