Motor Accident Claim Tribunal Judge Swarna Kanta Sharma awarded the compensation to Jyoti Singh, daughter of a Delhi government official, saying "no amount of money can compensate her the pleasure of growing into a young woman."

"No one can give her the companion or the bliss of marriage and pleasure of procreation of children," the court said.

While awarding the compensation, the court noted the mishap has rendered the girl incapable of even responding to the daily calls of nature without others' help, despite leaving her "intellectually fit" to feel the pain of a "miserable life".

The court awarded the compensation on a plea made by Jyoti's mother who said her daughter had met with the accident while travelling from Delhi to Jaipur in December 2007 in car along with her father K S Meena, a Deputy Director in Delhi government's Education Ministry.

The car was hit by a rashly-driven truck bearing Haryana registration number. While the car was completely damaged, Jyoti, who was then 14 and studying in grade nine, was grievously injured and left permanently disabled.
