New Delhi: Moscow will help New Delhi provide better training to the seafarers of India to sail through the polar waters.
“I am pleased that we will now cooperate on the training of India’s seafarers for operations in polar waters. This will not only strengthen our collaboration in the Arctic but also create new employment opportunities for the youth of India,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi told journalists after his meeting with President Vladimir Putin in New Delhi.
Modi and Putin on Friday agreed to deepen cooperation in building stable and efficient transport corridors, with the focus on expanding logistics links for improving connectivity and enhancing infrastructure capacity to support the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC), the Chennai–Vladivostok (Eastern Maritime) Corridor, and the Northern Sea Route.
They welcomed the signing of an MoU for Russia’s support on the training of specialists from India for ships operating in polar waters.
New Delhi and Moscow also took note of the fruitful cooperation between the railways of Russia and India, aimed at establishing partnerships in the field of mutually beneficial technology exchange.
