It contended both the companies have been "surprisingly and strangely evasive" in their response to the requests made by the CBI.
Solicitor General Tushar Mehta mentioned the application before a bench presided over by Justice S A Bobde and sought an urgent hearing.
The court agreed to put it for consideration on March 29.
The CBI claimed the service providers have been requested to provide all the CDRs originally requested by the West Bengal police and supplied to them.
"It is extremely germane to adjudicate upon one of the contemptuous acts of the alleged contemnors (WB Chief Secretary and DGP and then Kolkata CP Rajeev Kumar) to ascertain whether the CDRs of the entire period was sought by the WB police and were provided by the service providers," it said.
The probe agency further said it would help in ascertaining whether despite being in possession of the complete CDRs from 2012 and 2013, the WB police chose to share only limited CDRs with it.
The top court is seized up with a contempt petition filed by the CBI against then Kolkata police commissioner Kumar and WB Chief Secretary and DGP for “willful disobedience” “tampering” and “assault” on its sleuths, who were out to question him in the Saradha chit fund scam case.
