SC bans employment of children in circus

Banning employment of children in circuses, a Bench headed by Justice Dalveer Bhandari directed the Centre to come out with a notification in this regard.

It is imperative that the government issued notification to prohibit employment of children in the circus, the apex court said. It also directed the Government to conduct raids at such places to rescue children from exploitative situation.  The Bench passed the order on a petition filed by NGO Bachpan Bachao Andolan seeking its direction to the government for rescue and rehabilitation of children below 14 years of age and working in circuses. The next hearing has been scheduled for July 19.
